Among the innovations in architectural design and applications today is the use of precast concrete tilt panels. Tilt up construction is found to be an economical solution to creating large concrete buildings faster than with the use of concrete block construction method.
Tilt up construction involves building the walls at the jobsite. The process begins with the pouring of the slabs. In this phase, footings are installed around the slabs in preparation for the panels. The panel forms, which are normally made of wood cut to the desired specifications such as shapes and dimensions for doors and window openings, are assembled on the slabs to serve as molds for the cement. Once the concrete has been poured and solidified, the forms are then removed. With the use of a large crane, the panels are then lifted or tilted up from the slab to a vertical position. Thus the name, tilt up.
Basically, this tilt up construction is casting concrete on the jobsite where the structure is under the mercy of the weather. Such constructions can be done in regions and in seasons where it is dry and sunny.
This is the advantage of using precast concrete tilt panels. These panels follow the same processes as in the tilt up construction only, it is done in a manufacturing facility and then transported to the jobsite.
Manufacturing precast tilt panels has its advantages. In the precasting plant, the panels are greatly monitored from the mixing, pouring, casting, and curing processes to ensure superior quality and uniformity of the product. This is in contrast to tilt up construction on the jobsite where the formation of the panels may be affected by temperature, weather conditions, craftsmanship, and material quality. These are all eliminated when it comes to the production of precast concrete tilt panels.
Having them manufactured in a controlled environment also allows customizing as desired by clients and as needed by the designed structures needs. Design flexibility is achieved in precast concrete tilt panels. They can be designed in different shapes, styles and colors. That is why new houses, office buildings, hospitals, parking garages, shopping centers, and apartments built with precast concrete tilt panels look fantastic with the versatility of the designs, shapes and colors.
Customizing precast concrete tilt panels also makes the panel well-suited for all types of weather conditions and environment. The panels can be designed to withstand damage from regular freeze-thaw cycles and do not degrade from exposure to sunlight.
Like other precast concrete, these panels are easy to install, cost-effective and or superior quality.
